Business Development Manager Appointed As Expansion Takes Place

Newcastle-based Activ Technology has announced the appointment of Daniel Gavin as business development manager.

Daniel, aged 25, joins from Promethean, specialist in interactive panels, where he was an education specialist, offering training and consultancy sessions to teachers.

Activ Technology, which employs 25 staff, is a managed service provider for IT and telecommunications and supplies services across the North of England and Scotland.

Daniel, from High Barnes, Sunderland, said: “I was at Promethean for over two years and worked with a range of primary and secondary schools, as well as colleges, universities and academies, primarily training customers how to use interactive panels.

“They are interactive touch screens that transform the classroom experience by providing a mix of display technology combined with lesson delivery software, enhancing student collaboration and interaction.

“It provided me with fantastic knowledge on the subject but also sparked a desire to deliver this in a business development role.

“I had this opportunity when I was appointed by Activ Technology. As well as developing new contacts and supporting the managed IT and telecommunication services, I provide an end-to-end sales cycle. For example, I handle the initial sales negotiation, project manage the installation and then train the end users on how to get the best return from their investment. This service has allowed us to secure high profile colleges.

“We have already had success with local colleges including Redcar and Gateshead where, instead of using projectors, we have installed new front of class display, in the form of interactive touch screens. I am able to tailor the system to specific requirements.”
